Qigong and Tai Chi videos are supplemented with additional materials and a resource library to enhance and enrich your learning.

At Just Breathe, we believe that there is a big difference between Tai Chi lessons you get over a recorded video and Tai Chi classes that are recorded live. One of the biggest differences is that you get a new Qigong or Tai Chi lesson every time you log on; you are not simply rewatching the same Qigong or Tai Chi video on YouTube or CD.
Secondly, our online Tai Chi lessons are dynamic, meaning that you get the benefit of watching our practitioner, Kris Brinker, interact with the students. As she makes corrections, you learn more about your own movements and postures. In our Qigong and Tai Chi videos, Kris also answers questions from students — questions you may never have thought to ask, which gives you the opportunity to learn more about the practice.
Taking Tai Chi classes and Qigong classes that have been videotaped with actual students participating is invaluable, but another benefit of this medium is that you can queue up these classes whenever you want and work at your own pace. If you are away on vacation, have an injury, or are simply busy at work, you won’t “miss” a class. Simply restart your practice when you are available again.
Compatible With Any Device
All you need is an internet connection!
Simply enroll and access your Qigong or Tai Chi on-demand class from anywhere there is an internet connection. Watch each lesson as many times as you like. You won’t need to download any software, have a webcam, or figure out any complicated technology. Just create a user profile and start watching on your own schedule, in total privacy and at your own pace.
Taking Qigong or Tai Chi on-demand classes is so easy and rewarding. You never have to worry about leaving the house when the weather is bad or figuring out how to get to class if your car is in the shop. You just log on using your desktop, laptop, tablet, phone or any device and get started with your class.
You can take our Qigong or Tai Chi on-demand classes right in the privacy of your own home, or you can watch our Tai Chi videos elsewhere — anywhere there is an internet connection. Making a commitment to take Qigong or Tai Chi classes with a buddy increases the odds you will follow through with your commitment. Invite a friend to create their own account and go through the lessons at the same pace.
You can collaborate with each other using the lesson chat feature. Or make new friends by engaging with other students in the Just Breathe Global Community by exchanging questions and comments.
One of the best parts about taking Qigong or Tai Chi on demand is that you never have to worry about missing a class. If you or one of your friends is unable to take a class on the appointed day and time, simply reschedule and take the class when you are available. In the meantime, you or your friend can re-take Tai Chi lessons you’ve previously completed for extra practice. It’s easy and convenient.
Teaching Style
Step-by-step detailed instruction with guided repetitions
Online Tai Chi and Qigong classes are taught with an emphasis on relaxation and increasing balance and flexibility. Modifications are discussed for physical considerations. The goal is to relax, have fun, and increase and maintain health. We do this by using breathing and the gentle movements of the form.
Our Qigong and Tai Chi classes are taught by Kris Brinker, a longtime area Tai Chi and Qigong practitioner. Her open and expressive teaching style makes it easy for students to understand and copy the movements we practice in our classes. Kris demonstrates each move while explaining exactly how to replicate it and what students should be thinking while they’re executing the moves. Combining demonstration with explanation helps make for a fuller and richer experience for remote students.
While Tai Chi and Qigong instructors and students are encouraged to wear loose, free-flowing clothing when they practice this form of martial arts, in the Tai Chi on-demand classes, Kris wears a T-shirt and workout pants so that you can clearly see her body movements while she explains what she is doing.
Giving Qigong and Tai Chi lessons is an art, and teaching it over Zoom takes even more skill. Kris helps you focus and retain your concentration, bringing you back on task should your mind wander. Tai Chi classes are only easy if you mindlessly copy the movements without training your brain to work in tandem with your body. The most benefits are gained through focus and concentration.

Online & On-Demand Tai Chi and Qigong Classes – Frequently Asked Questions
Can you really learn Tai Chi online, or do you need an in-person teacher?
Yes — you can absolutely learn Tai Chi online. At Just Breathe Tai Chi, our online and on-demand classes are designed specifically for beginners and adult learners. Movements are taught slowly, clearly, and step-by-step, so you can follow along at home even if you’ve never taken a Tai Chi class before.
Our teaching style emphasizes:
- Clear instruction with easy-to-follow demonstrations
- Repetition to help reinforce movement patterns
- Modifications for different abilities and comfort levels
- A supportive, judgment-free learning environment
Many students begin online and discover they can build balance, confidence, and calm right from home.
Are online Tai Chi classes effective for improving balance and reducing stress?
Yes. Tai Chi is well-researched for its benefits in balance training and stress reduction, and these benefits translate beautifully to online learning. The slow, intentional movements and coordinated breathing used in Tai Chi activate the body’s relaxation response and help you move with more stability and ease.
Our students frequently report:
- Feeling calmer and less tense after their first class
- Noticeable balance improvements within just a few weeks
- Better posture, mobility, and confidence over time
Practicing from home also reduces barriers — no commute, no stress, and no pressure to “keep up.”
What’s the difference between online Tai Chi classes and YouTube videos?
YouTube is great for curiosity, but it rarely provides the structured, progressive learning adults need to feel confident in Tai Chi.
Just Breathe’s online programs offer:
- A clear learning path rather than random videos
- Consistent instruction from the same experienced teacher
- Detailed breakdowns of each movement
- Accessible pacing designed for beginners
- A supportive community and optional live classes
- Research-informed teaching focused on healthy aging, balance, and stress relief
You’re not just following along — you’re learning Tai Chi in a way that supports your body and your long-term well-being.
How do online Tai Chi classes work if I’m a complete beginner?
Our online classes are built for absolute beginners. You don’t need experience, coordination, strength, or memorization skills.
Here’s how it works:
- Start with simple warm-ups to loosen joints and prepare your body.
- Learn movements in small, comfortable steps with clear explanations.
- Practice short sections repeatedly so you always feel supported.
- Build toward our 17-movement form, but only when you feel ready.
You can pause, rewind, and repeat sections as often as needed, making online learning even more flexible than in-person.
Do I need any special equipment or space to do Tai Chi at home?
No special equipment is required. You only need:
- A small open area (even 4–6 feet is enough)
- Comfortable clothing
- Flat shoes, socks, or bare feet
- Optional: a water bottle and a notebook
Tai Chi is adaptable, gentle, and ideal for practicing in small indoor spaces.
How long does it take to see results from online Tai Chi practice?
Most beginners feel positive changes within 3–6 classes, especially in:
- Relaxation and mental clarity
- Body awareness
- Smoother, more confident movement
- Improved breathing
Balance and posture changes often appear within 4–6 weeks when practicing consistently.
Just Breathe Tai Chi emphasizes real-life functional benefits, not perfection — every bit of practice helps.
Is online Tai Chi safe for seniors or people with arthritis, balance issues, or chronic pain?
Yes — Tai Chi is considered one of the safest and most beneficial movement practices for adults with:
- Arthritis
- Joint replacements
- Balance concerns
- Limited mobility
- Chronic pain
- Stress or fatigue
Our online instruction includes modifications and comfort-first teaching so you can practice safely at your own pace. Many of our students are 40–80+ years old and choose online classes specifically because they feel supported and comfortable practicing at home.
Always check with your healthcare provider if you have specific concerns.
What should I look for in a good online Tai Chi instructor or program?
An effective online Tai Chi program should offer:
- Clear, beginner-focused instruction
- Slow, accessible pacing
- Practical benefits over performance
- A structured curriculum
- A supportive community
- A teacher who explains why movements matter
Just Breathe Tai Chi is designed around these principles, combining research-informed teaching with an encouraging, welcoming style.
How often should I practice Tai Chi at home to get the most benefits?
Consistency matters more than intensity. Most students benefit from:
- One online class per week, plus
- 10–15 minutes of informal practice between sessions
You can practice more if you enjoy it, but small, steady sessions create the best long-term results.
What is the best online Tai Chi class for beginners?
The best beginner program is one that feels:
- Clear and easy to follow
- Supportive and non-judgmental
- Slow enough that you never feel rushed
- Simple to repeat and review
- Encouraging rather than overwhelming
Just Breathe Tai Chi’s online and on-demand classes are built for true beginners — especially adults who want better balance, less stress, and gentle, sustainable movement. You can start anytime and learn at your own pace.

“Conventional medical science on the Chinese art of Taijiquan now shows what Tai Chi masters have known for centuries. regular practice leads to more vigor and flexibility, better balance and mobility, and a sense of well-being.
